Highly sensitive networks, usually top secret ones, are commonly segregated. The main reason for this segregation is the (rightful) fear from information leakage and data theft. On the other hand, these networks are populated by users and operators requiring the ability to receive emails, in a real-time fashion, from external parties, networks and sources. In most cases, this is done manually – the email is burnt on a CD (or copied into a flash-drive), passed through an adequate content filtering system, and then inserted into the sensitive networks.

Implementing a WF-FTE, with its SMTP channel and preferably coupled with a content filtering system, enables the organization to receive, within the segregated sensitive network, emails from external sources, in a secure and real-time manner. The main reason for the segregation – data leakage and theft – retains its validity, as no leakage is possible via the Waterfall.

Waterfall’s SMTP channel supports all SMTP mail servers, and specifically – MS Exchange Server.

Many organizations implement closed networks:

• Pharmaceutical enterprises develop their next generation products in a “closed” network, to keep trade secrets from leaking to the competition.
• Banks’ operational networks are closed and isolated, due to regulatory requirements, from external and publicly connected networks.
• Mission critical networks are commonly closed, to isolate them from being impaired from less critical networks.

As such, these networks cannot obtain online, real time, updates from the Internet – thus suffer from being “out of date” in regards of Anti Virus systems and implementation of security patches for critical network elements.

Implementing a Waterfall system, with the “updater” add-on, provides closed network with automatic, online updates, being “pushed” securely and unidirectional, from the Internet.

As no data can leak from this link, and no online attack can be commenced – the network remains in the required security and sensitivity level, while remaining up-to-date and secure with its internal security systems.

Waterfall’s Updater supports multiple Anti Virus systems, including; McAfee, Symantec, and Kasparsky.

This solution allows to receive the updates and publish them using the unidirectional data gateway thus upgrading the stability and security of the desktops servers and other endpoint residing within segregated networks.
